Departmental Scholarships (CRSS)

Crop & Soil Science students have the opportunity to receive scholarships from the Crop and Soil Science Department and from the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. Scholarships are limited and competition is usually among those with a grade point average over 3.0 and who have shown leadership skills in the Agronomy Club and elsewhere.

University Scholarships

Last year, UGA awarded over $7 million in scholarships and awards from University Foundation funds to undergraduate students.



Sports Turf

Sports Turf Management Association - SAFE Scholarship

SAFE annually awards scholarships to students who are planning a career in the sports turf industry. Since its inception, the SAFE Foundation has presented more than $225,000 in scholarships and travel to the STMA Conference and Exhibition to more than 120 students. Each year, SAFE awards three named scholarships: the Dr. James Watson Graduate Scholarship , the Dr. James Watson Undergraduate Scholarship , and the Dr. Fred Grau Scholarship.




GCSAA Student Essay Contest

This program awards scholarships totaling $4,500 to applicants who are undergraduate and graduate students pursuing degrees in turfgrass science, agronomy or any other field related to golf course management. Applicants must be GCSAA members.

GCSAA Scholars Competition

These scholarships range from $500 to $6,000. Applicants must be enrolled in a recognized undergraduate program in a major field related to turf management, have completed at least 24 credit hours or the equivalent of one year of full-time study in the appropriate major, and be a member of GCSAA.

Georgia State Golf Association - Moncrief Scholarship

Moncrief Scholarships are awarded to students in the turfgrass or agronomy programs at the University of Georgia in Athens and Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton. These scholarships are provided to the next generation of golf course superintendents in Georgia.
